A NEW clothes store selling designer brands for just £5 has opened at Stretford Mall – and bargain hunters are lapping it up with stock flying off the shelves.

Red60, which has created two full time staff posts, is the latest addition to the shopping centre, selling last season’s clothing from major high street and online brands such as New Look and Boohoo.com at a huge discount.

The company, which has a total of 12 shops across the UK, primarily sells women’s clothing although they do also cater for men and children, with every item on offer priced at £5.

It’s new store at Stretford Mall only opened in the last fortnight and has already attracted a large number of shoppers and has had to restock items on a daily basis such is the level of demand.

Red60 director Kash Waha, who oversees all twelve of the company’s stores which are spread across the UK, has been delighted by the response from shoppers in Stretford.

The 30-year-old said: “We specialise in leggings, jeggings and treggings. Plus we also do sweatshirts and hoodies. It’s mainly female clothing but we do have a small menswear range too.

“It’s ex-designer wear, basically the previous season’s stock from the likes of Boohoo, Pretty Little Things, Misguided, Topshop and New look as well as their own brand Red 60.

“Everything we sell is £5. It’s great value. A £30 top last year you can now get for a fiver.”

Red 60 caters for the plus size market with sizes ranging from 6 to 36. The store also sells accessories such as fur gloves, earrings and keyrings.

Kash added: “We looked at the market here in Stretford for about six or seven months. We have so much stock at our base in Manchester so we can always cater for a particular market.

“In Stretford there is more of a mature market during the week and then at the weekends or after college there is a younger crowd. We thought we would give it a go.

“We’ve had a really amazing response. We’re having to restock every day when usually we do it every two weeks.

“We’re running out of pretty much everything! We’re very, very busy – we’ve had a great reaction.

“All our customer feedback has been along the lines of ‘we wish we’d have had this here a long time ago’.

Gareth Wilkins, centre manager at Stretford Mall, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Red60 to the mall which complements the wide variety of quality shops we already have here at the centre.

“The new store is already proving popular with our shoppers and I’m sure it will continue to go from strength to strength.

“With Christmas on the horizon there is plenty of bargains to be found, not just at Red60 but throughout the mall.”

Kash, who has worked for Red60 for ten years, says the new store at Stretford Mall has proven particularly popular with young people.

He said: “It’s been a really positive start, I’m very pleased. We’re pulling a bit of a crowd in which is great.

“We’ve got hooded tops from New Look that are selling really well. We’re the only company licensed to sell them.

“It’s last season’s stock but they only cost £5. People don’t see it as last season they just see an amazing bargain.

“We’ve noticed that we’re attracting a lot of young people, probably because of the range of jeggings we sell.

“People come in and you overhear them saying ‘I’ll bring my daughter in here next time’, which is great.”
