STAFF at Stretford Mall are getting ready to do their bit in a Christmas knit, to raise funds for charity this Friday.

Team members at Bonmarché are among those who will be wearing festive knitwear and collecting donations from shoppers, on Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day, December 18.

Sammer Qureshi, Bonmarché store manager at Stretford Mall has already tried out her jumper for size, and is encouraging shoppers to get into the Christmas giving spirit by making a donation.

The Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day is being run by ITV in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish UK, and Save the Children.

Whether at school, at work, out shopping, or with friends, the nation is being encouraged to wear a Christmas jumper with pride on December 18

“MacMillan is our official charity at Bonmarché and all of our stores will be taking part,” said Sammer.

“The staff are all getting into the spirit of it. We’ve got a range of ladies Christmas jumpers in stock and so far they’re proving very popular.

“This is such a good cause, we hope lots of people will buy a jumper so they can take part in the fun, and also make a donation on the day.”

Bonmarche has been fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support for over ten years and across the UK the retailer has raised over £2.5 million for the charity, including a massive £236,000 last year.

Gareth Wilkins, centre manager at Stretford Mall, says he will also be taking part and supporting the cause with a worthy wooly.

He said: “It’s a lovely way to celebrate Christmas and also raise funds, which ever of these three fantastic charities you choose.”

The Text Santa Christmas Jumper day will be culminate with a three hour ITV charity appeal spectacular, to be broadcast on December 18.
